Frye Wins Sooner than Later

MUSKOGEE, OK. Bill Frye picked up his sixth MARS win of the 2002 season in the Sooner state. Frye overcame hometown favorite Charlie Randolph Jr. before he went on to put away the field by a straightaway on the 1/2 mile Muskogee Speedway. Frye began his assault on the front on lap seven as he got by Raymond Merrill. Frye and fellow Petroff Posse member Phillips dueled side by side for third before Frye powered into position. Frye used the lap traffic to his advantage and gained on the leaders. After Frye took the lead from Randolph, he was pacing the field by 10 carlengths by lap 20 and had moved out to half a straightaway margin by lap 25. The others who rounded out the top 10 were: Jeff Taylor, Terry Phillips, Charlie Randolph, Jr., Leslie Essary, Wendell Wallace, Raymond Merrill, Gary Stolba, Jeff Floyd, and Joey Mack.
